Reducing lithium-caused fires at waste facilities

The Lithium Solution

Litech is on a mission to detect incorrectly sorted batteries in fragmented waste streams, and the negative consequences that follow. Our solution combines the latest research with industry knowledge, to create a cutting-edge sensor that has not yet been seen in the industry before.

Trusted by:

A ticking environment bomb

The use of lithium batteries is rapidly increasing and unfortunately causes troubles in the waste stream. When lithium batteries are recycled incorrectly, they can be exposed to external damages, lead to internal shorts.

Causing 80% of waste facility fires

The damaged batteries self-ignite and can potentially set a whole facility in flames. In fact, 80 per cent of fires at waste facilities are caused by incorrectly sorted batteries.

How the Litech

magic works

Our solution induces a magnetic field through which objects pass. In return we receive a unique signature of the composition of the materials. By using AI, we can cluster these fingerprints and make informed decisions if there is a battery hidden in the waste.

Retrofitted to your needs

We collaborate closely with industry partners to create a design tailored to the existing waste stream. Our modular design allows us to customize the solution to your exact measurements.
